The Pastoral Care Team is tasked first and foremost with congregational care. Much as a deacon might be a “lead servant” in other churches, the Pastoral Care Team leads by their compassionate and caring example. Some of the more formal ways we do this involve:
- Coordinating needed meals for families in crises
- Making home/medical/nursing facility visits to individuals in need of prayer and company
- Identifying the needs of individuals or groups and offer financial or other help through the Benevolent Fund or networking with appropriate resources/organizations
- Providing cards to be signed each Sunday for individuals who are ill, grieving, celebrating special occasions, or in need of prayers. The cards are often sent with notes/drawings from the children/youth
- Providing grief and cancer booklets as needed, which are mailed on a scheduled basis for the first year of a loss or illness
- Providing needed services for funerals in our church family
- Assisting with the Hospitality Team for kitchen services as needed (Donut Sundays, luncheons etc)
